From Data to Insight: A Hands-On Workshop for Social Scientists

This workshop is designed for social scientists and researchers who want to strengthen their skills in working with data. We will walk through the complete research workflow, from discovering and collecting datasets to preparing and cleaning them, and applying both traditional and AI-assisted methods for analysis and visualization. The program blends conceptual foundations with practical exercises, highlighting best practices, ethical considerations, and reproducibility in social science research.
Why is this workshop useful for social scientists?
>> Learn where to find reliable datasets (open data portals, APIs, online repositories).
>> Build hands-on skills in data cleaning, preparation, and transformation.
>> Explore AI tools for text processing and data enrichment.
>> Apply modeling and analysis techniques.
>> Understand how to evaluate models and communicate results effectively.
>> Reflect on ethics, transparency, and reproducibility in data-driven research.
All sessions include hands-on coding in Google Colab (based on Python). Code samples will be shared before the workshop. Please bring your laptop - the workshop is highly interactive!
No advanced coding background required; just bring your laptop and curiosity!
